Ornela De Giacomo
Dr. Ornela De Giacomo has been Deputy Executive Director of CERIC-ERIC since 2015. Currently, she is spending part of her working time in the Management Unit of EPOS ERIC, learning from their wonderful implementation of interoperable interdisciplinary open data and developing joint activities between both ERICs. She has 19+ years of experience in large analytical Research Infrastructures in tasks dealing with open access, quality, processes and project management. She has focused in the decade on the sustainability of Research Infrastructures, open science and management. She also worked in technology transfer for a private company. Her background is in Food Engineering (2000), and she completed her Ph.D. in Nanotechnology in 2008. She was trained in Strategic Management of Research Infrastructures and Project management for engineers in Virginia, US, in 2018. She took part in the initiative Foresight Science and Technology of the Italian National Research Council as part of the working group “Converging technologies for sustainable and healthy food”. She was a member of the Conseil Scientifique d’E-RIHS France (2019-2021) and is currently a member of E-RIHS IP Research Infrastructure Advisory Board (RIAB). She contributes to the EOSC-A Task Force Financial Sustainability of EOSC.
